How to Make DIY Lashes Last Longer

Get more wear, better hold, and fewer touch-ups — here’s how.

DIY lash extensions are designed to last for days — and with the right prep and care, you can stretch that to nearly a week or more. Whether you’re new to DIY lashes or looking to fine-tune your routine, the little things make a big difference.

Here are our best tips to help your Revel Lash sets last longer, stay comfortable, and look great through it all.

🧴 1. Start with a Clean Canvas

Oil, makeup, and leftover skincare will break down lash adhesive — fast.

How to prep:

  • Use an oil-free cleanser or micellar water
  • Avoid using moisturizers or eye cream around the lash line
  • Let your lashes air dry completely before starting application

💡 The cleaner your lashes, the stronger your bond.

🪄 2. Use the Right Amount of Adhesive

More glue ≠ better hold. In fact, excess adhesive can cause slippage, clumping, or premature lifting.

Best practice:

  • Apply a thin, even layer to the lash segment band and/or base of your natural lashes
  • If you’re using a bond + seal system, seal after fusing to lock in the hold
  • Avoid getting glue on your waterline or skin

✨ 3. Perfect Your Placement

The closer you get to your natural lash line — without touching skin — the more secure your lashes will be.

Tips:

  • Use a mirror angled below your chin
  • Apply segments from inner to outer corners
  • Use tweezers or an applicator to press and fuse gently after each placement

💧 4. Avoid Moisture for the First 24 Hours

Give the adhesive time to cure.

Avoid:

  • Steam (no hot showers or saunas)
  • Crying (sorry, rom-coms)
  • Cleansing near the lashes
  • Eye creams or serums

💡 Once the bond is set, it becomes much more resistant to daily wear.

💤 5. Sleep Smarter

Tossing, turning, and pillow friction can loosen your lash segments overnight.

Try:

  • Sleeping on your back
  • Using a silk or satin pillowcase
  • Avoiding sleep masks with too much pressure

🧼 6. Be Gentle with Aftercare

DIY lashes don’t need daily cleaning like salon extensions, but you should still treat them with care.

Do:

  • Gently brush with a clean spoolie if they twist or bend
  • Avoid tugging or pulling
  • Reapply a touch of sealant at the base only if needed (not all over)

⏳ 7. Know When to Refresh or Remove

If corners start to lift, you can:

  • Reapply a small amount of bond and press to reset
  • Or remove that segment and replace with a fresh one

If you’re past day 5 or 6, consider starting fresh to keep your lash line clean and healthy.

💬 Bonus: Use a Lash Map

Following a lash map not only helps with symmetry — it improves placement precision, which leads to longer wear.
